I went to the Dia museum in Beacon, New York yesterday with my Contemporary Art class. It was a very interesting trip. It was cool to see some of the concepts we had learned about in class put into practice, although I think some of the work actually sounds better when you're staring at it alone in a slide, with a professor explaining it to you.

My favorite work was definitely the Andy Warhol Shadow paintings. (No surprise there. ) I really liked Bruce Nauman's neon work too, though. I'm so used to hearing about him only as a video artist that I wasn't expecting those. He also had a conceptual work, "Body Pressure," which included copies that museum visitors could take. Very cool.

We also went to Storm King Art Center, which was neat, but it was also freezing. I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it was warm out, or even if I had been dressed more appropriately.
